We're an adults only retreat where guests tend to come for a peaceful escape, which means Brook Cottage stays genuinely quiet. As the light fades over the peninsula, retreat inside to your handcrafted shepherd hut and light the wood burner. The huts warm quickly and hold their heat beautifully - a detail that matters when the Welsh evenings cool. Whether you're sharing a bottle of something local, playing cards or sitting in comfortable silence listening to the fire, these are the hours that make a short break feel genuinely restorative. On warmer evenings, the firepit outside comes into its own, the perfect setting for stargazing.

Snowdonia's mountains are within easy reach, Portmeirion is a short drive away, and the North Wales coast offers beaches that genuinely rival anywhere in Britain. When you feel ready, the peninsula is yours. When you'd rather not, the hut and its three-acre grounds give you more than enough to enjoy.

5. Dogs welcome - and properly so

Two of our five shepherd huts - Joan and Angharad - are dog-friendly, and we mean it properly. Our site is fully secure (perfect for little Houdinis) and your dog will find towels, water bowls and a welcome gift waiting for them when they arrive. We hold the Visit Wales Pets Welcome award, and guests who travel with their dogs consistently tell us it's one of the most relaxed and genuinely welcoming stays they've found.
